Nestled in the mountainous terrain, this village offers a tranquil atmosphere and traditional Pelion architecture. Agios Lavrentios is a peaceful retreat where time seems to slow down. Stroll through the quiet lanes, sit in the shade of plane trees, and breathe in the crisp mountain air. Throughout the year, Agios Lavrentios hosts various cultural events and festivals that offer insights into the region’s rich heritage. These events often include traditional music, dance, and local crafts.

The Medieval village of Lafkos has a square with tall, beautiful plane trees. From its picturesque cobbled paths and the well preserved houses you can see the signs of another era. It is built on top of a hill with a magnificent view of the Pagasitic Gulf. Because of its elevation, Lafkos is always cool, even at the height of the season. After a long hot day on the beach, few things are more pleasant than to sit under the plane trees and savour the evening breeze.

It is the main village of South Pelion, and is 40km from Volos. During the Turkish occupation Argalasti was the main trade centre of Pelion. This resulted in it being very prosperous and developing into a cultural and intelligent centre as well. You will also be amazed with the belfry of the church of Agioi Apostolis, which is very tall (45m) and was made from marble by local workmen in 1914. Enjoy your drink, coffee or food at the paved main square surrounded by plain trees.

Zagora is one of the most famous villages of Pelion located 45 km east of Volos. During the 17th and the 18th centuries, the village was an important trade, cottage industry and culture centre. Here was found, in the 17th century, the first school of Pelion as well as the School of Rigas where was the famous Greek freedom-fighter Rigas Feraios. Zagora is also famous for its diverse and succulent variety of fruits such as apples, sloes, plums, strawberries, pears and much more.

One of the most picturesque and traditional big villages of Pelion, Milies is built in an amphitheatrically style. Milies is the place with the beautiful famous cave where the mythic Centaur Chiron and his students used to live.
The old traditional train station located near the village is for sure a place of great interest. The Italian engineer Jiorgio de Kirico developed this project in 1895, and created one of the most beautiful and difficult rail lines.

This particularly beautiful village attracts quite a lot of tourists during summertime for it is built in the middle of a chestnut wood forest, and the view from there is unbelievable. Tsagarada was founded in 1500 and is composed of four lovely settlements formed around the old restored churches of the Taxiarches, Agia Paraskevi, Agia Kyriaki and Agios Stephanos. A huge and imposing one 1000-year-old plane tree is located right in the middle of the square of Agia Paraskevi.

Portaria is sure to become one of your favourite destinations and lovely memory of the mythical mountain. Of particular interest are its neoclassical mansions, many of which operate as guest houses, as well as the church of Panagia Portarea for which the village is named.

Makrinitsa is the most representative village
in Pelion. It has preserved the integrity of its traditional Pelion- style architecture and constitutes in its entirety an authentic example
of local tradition. As you walk along the cobblestone lanes found everywhere, you will come across water fountains flowing with cool spring water, manor homes and hospitable people. The museum of Folk Art and History of Pelion is housed in the Topalis Manor.
